Reiki History
Reiki is the Japanese word representing Universal Life Energy...
The energy which is all around us.
Reiki- by enhancing the life force with energy transmitted through the hands, enables the body to mobilize its healing resources.
When activated, Reiki does the following:
-
It addresses body, mind and spirit.
-
It accelerates the body’s ability to heal physical ailments and opens the mind & spirit to the causes of disease and pain,
-
It enhances the necessity for taking responsibility for one’s of life and the joys of balanced wellness.
The Usui system of Reiki is a natural healing art which uses Reiki in these ways.
Reiki is an ancient art rediscovered late 1800's by a Japanese scholar, Dr. Mikao Usui.
He discovered a formula in Sanskrit writings. His successor, Dr. Chujiro Hayashi appointed an American of Japanese descent, Hawayo Takata to bring Reiki to the Western World after the Second World War.
Takata then initiated her Granddaughter Phyllis Lei Furumoto who is the Lineage Bearer of the Usui Shiki Ryoho System.
Phyllis passed down the tradition by initiating Jan Pritchard as a Master of the Usui System of Natural Healing in 1994.

Jan's History
-
Jan was initiated in Randwick Sydney into REIKI 1 in 1986 by Rev Beth Gray. As a reiki practitioner Jan sent many of her clients to learn Reiki with Beth in Sydney.
After sending 7 -8 people at a time to the Reiki Seminar Beth suggested Jan to organize classes in her own area with a minimum of 35 people, she followed her suggestion.
Jan then co-ordinated seminars for Beth at Terrigal and The Entrance NSW .
-
Beth Gray was initiated as a master by Mrs Takata in the 1970s and brought Reiki to Australia from California in the early 1980's.
During these nine years before becoming a master Jan treated clients with Reiki at her clinic: Gorokan Natural Health Centre NSW.
Jan also co ordinated Reiki classes in Newcastle and Sydney and assisted at seminars in England and Hong Kong, Canberra , Melbourne & Albury.
She also held a weekly Reiki group as well from her home. In 1992 Beth had a stroke and was unable to initiate her as a master. Jan travelled to California to visit Beth in hospital. When I returned to Australia, Beth's students were notified of her massive stroke. Beth's Reiki 2 students proceeded to send distant treatments to her. Beth improved remarkably and lived in a nursing home until her transition May 2008.
She will be remembered by Jan for all her love and knowledge that she passed on. Jan has much gratitude to Beth, words cannot describe the legacy she has left to the Reiki Australian community.
-
In 1994 in Perth Jan was initiated as a Reiki master by lineage bearer of Usui Shiki Ryoho Phyllis Lei Furumoto, after completing her training in Europe and Perth.
-
Jan has been teaching since 1995 inititating lots of students since. Holding classes at Central Coast NSW, Camden, Liverpool, Randwick, Noosa, Maitland , Newcastle, Gosford, Melbourne, Greece, Phillipines, Indonesia, Gold Coast.
-
Throughout this time she has continued with private practice giving Reiki treatments. She also has been holding Reiki practitioner training courses since 2007.
In 2007 Phyllis Lei Furumoto invited her to U.S.A. for further training of preparation to initiate Masters.
-
Jan has initiated 5 of her Reiki students as Masters of USUI SHIKI RYOHO. These Masters are now supporting the system.
Jan is available to her students for however long they need, for some it has been 17 years, holding retreats, intensives, groups.
Students are able to come back and review classes whenever they require.
Her students have had ongoing support ever since they completed their Reiki1 & 2 & Practitioner courses.
'Each day I practice reiki, I see another healing miracle.
You can become part of my history, by becoming my student.'
The opportunity is there for you to have your own history with Reiki.
lots of Love,
Jan
